Arrive in Puerto Maldonado and travel by road and boat deep into the Tambopata rainforest. Settle into Refugio Amazonas and enjoy your first jungle experience, including a guided rainforest walk and a visit to the 40-meter observation tower for spectacular forest and birdwatching views.
Lake & Local Life
Explore Condenado Lake by boat and look for wildlife such as hoatzins, caimans and kingfishers. With luck, you may also encounter giant river otters. Visit a local organic farm and discover tropical fruits and traditional Amazonian crops.
Macaws, Brazil Nuts & Medicinal Plants
Start early with a visit to a spectacular macaw clay lick, where colorful macaws and parrots gather. Discover the traditional Brazil nut harvest and learn about Amazonian medicinal plants. In the evening, enjoy a presentation about rainforest conservation and research.
Wildlife & Night Jungle
Explore the rainforest in search of peccaries and other wildlife. Walk along jungle trails near the river and enjoy the sunset. At night, take an optional guided walk to discover nocturnal animals, especially frogs and insects.
Farewell to the Amazon
