Once in Cusco our staff member will greet you at the airport to help you with anything you may need and to transfer you to your hotel. You will have the afternoon to relax or explore Cusco at your leisure. It is recommended that you take it easy your first day in this city because of its extremely high altitude (3400m).

Day 4: Cusco Walking Tour, B

Today you will be brought on a guided walking tour of Cusco. The great thing about this small city is that it can be completely conquered and explored by foot. Your informative guide will bring your tour group to various landmarks in this exciting, bustling city. For example, visit Korincancha (Temple of the Sun) and the lively open air San Pedro Market. You will visit the beautiful colonial architectural gems of the city as well, such as the Cathedral and the Plaza de Armas. The rest of your day will be free for you to explore further or relax to adjust to the altitude.

Day 5: Sacred Valley Tour – Aguas Calientes, B, L

Begin your journey through the land of the Incas with a full day Sacred Valley tour. The Sacred Valley of the Incas, just outside of Cusco, is a gorgeous sprawling span of green farms, lofty terraced mountains and contains numerous quaint towns unmoved by time, in addition to lively festivals and the best handicrafts in Peru. The first stop is the artisanal capital of Peru, the small village of Pisac. It is famous for its craft market in the main plaza, busiest on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, where local natives come to sell their colourful woven cloth, alpaca wool, reproductions of ancient jewellery, engraved gourds and much, much more. Pisac is the best stop in Peru for mementoes of your trip to bring home to family and friends. After a delicious lunch in Pisac, we will travel to Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that remains inhabited. It is a wonderful example of pre-Colombian architecture, and here you will explore the expansive ruins overlooking the town. In Ollantaytambo you will catch the train to Aguas Calientes to be ready to explore Machu Picchu early tomorrow morning. You will be met at the train station and transferred to the hotel.

Day 6: Machu Picchu Full Day – Cusco, B

Today is the highlight of any trip to South America – Machu Picchu! This world famous site is easily the most remarkable pre-Colombian city in the world, partially because of its mystical beauty at its lofty place among the Andean cloud forest. A guided tour will help you discover and understand what Machu Picchu tells us about the life and customs of the Incan people.

You have the optional opportunity to take the challenging, unguided hike to the top of Wayna Picchu, where you will have the best view of the site. This hike is highly recommended for people who are in the right physical condition, as it truly gives unparalleled views of Machu Picchu. After a long day of exploring this lost city, you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Cusco. Upon arrival to Cusco you will be brought back to your hotel for a good night’s rest.
